Synopsys Unveils AgentEngineer AI Agents for Chip Design
Synopsys announced AgentEngineer, a portfolio of long-horizon AI agents for chip design, with general availability planned for late 2026.
Synopsys has announced AgentEngineer, a portfolio of domain-specific long-horizon agents built on its new Autopilot Platform. The agents are designed to handle extended, multi-step tasks across the chip design flow.
The portfolio covers six named domains: verification, system validation, implementation, analog and mixed-signal design, manufacturing, and simulation and analysis. Synopsys says more than 50 customer engagements are already underway.
General availability is planned for the end of 2026, the company confirmed. Customers will be able to choose commercial, open-source, or fine-tuned language models and deploy on Synopsys Cloud, their own cloud, or on-premises infrastructure.
In July, Synopsys showed agentic AI workflows developed with Nvidia and with Microsoft at the Design Automation Conference. Despite describing the agents as autonomous, Synopsys said approval checkpoints remain with humans.
