VCAT.AI Joins TV Asahi Drama Sanada Juyushi as AI Video Partner
The Korean studio handled action scenes blending AI with VFX for the seven-episode series, which airs on TV Asahi and streams on Netflix.
Korean AI video production company VCAT.AI announced it took part in TV Asahi's seven-episode period drama Sanada Juyushi, which began airing on October 23 and streams on Netflix from October 24, according to Venturesquare.
VCAT.AI handled high-difficulty action scenes with extensive actor and camera movement, combining AI with VFX by altering backgrounds in live footage and adding characters. The company said the TV Asahi production team brought in an additional AI production company because some scenes were hard to handle with existing VFX alone and the workload had increased.
According to VCAT.AI, it is the only Korean AI production company involved in the work. The drama was co-produced by TV Asahi and Toei and depicts the story of ten retainers said to have served the Sengoku-era warlord Sanada Yukimura.
AI-only promotional video
VCAT.AI also produced a promotional video for Sanada Juyushi entirely with AI, without separate live-action shooting. The video was shown on a Times Square billboard in New York on the 19th and introduced on a Japanese terrestrial TV program on the 21st.
The series airs weekly on Fridays on terrestrial TV and releases weekly on Saturdays on Netflix. VCAT.AI said it has been receiving inquiries about music video and advertising production from the Japanese entertainment industry following the project. The company provides an all-in-one AI marketing agent and has produced AI advertising for companies including Naver, Audi, LG Display, Bodyfriend and Mom's Touch.
