Vueron, KT to Jointly Develop LiDAR Road-Defect Detection System
The partners will mount LiDAR sensors on city buses and snowplows to find potholes, with data processed on KT's Cloudflex cloud.
Vueron Technology said on October 19, 2026, that it signed a memorandum of understanding with KT to develop and commercialize a LiDAR-based intelligent road management solution, according to datanet.co.kr.
Under the agreement, LiDAR sensors will be mounted on public vehicles such as city buses, street cleaners and snowplows to detect potholes while the vehicles drive their normal routes. Vueron's road recognition solution Copilot is the core of the demonstration.
KT will link its RTX FAST-based precise positioning technology to distinguish pothole locations by lane. The 3D data collected will be transmitted to a control center over KT's LTE network and processed on KT's Cloudflex cloud service.
The planned integrated platform will show damage location, lane, depth, area and on-site images on a map-based screen, and will manage repair priorities by risk level.
Quick answers
What will Vueron Technology and KT develop together?
A LiDAR-based intelligent road management solution that detects road defects such as potholes and supports repair planning.
Which vehicles will carry the LiDAR sensors?
Public vehicles including city buses, street cleaners and snowplows.
What role does KT play in the system?
KT provides RTX FAST-based precise positioning to identify pothole locations by lane, an LTE network for data transmission, and the Cloudflex cloud service for processing.
