Wavina raises 200 million KRW seed, selected for TIPS
Seoul National University Technology Holdings led the seed round for the AI ECG analysis startup, which will also receive TIPS program support.
AI healthcare startup Wavina has raised a 200 million KRW seed investment from Seoul National University Technology Holdings, according to platum.kr. The company was also selected for TIPS, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' private-investment-led tech startup support program.
Wavina is developing an AI solution that analyzes ECG data to predict about 30 blood test indicators, including blood potassium levels, kidney function and anemia. The company said it trained its model on more than 4 million paired ECG and blood test records from Seoul National University Hospital, Bundang Seoul National University Hospital and Seoul National University Hospital Gangnam Center.
Wavina reported AUROC of 0.89 to 0.92 for predicting nine key indicators including hyperkalemia, kidney function, anemia and heart failure.
Dialysis focus under TIPS
Under the TIPS project, Wavina plans to partner with 20 nephrology hospitals to collect dialysis patient data and refine its dialysis patient algorithm.
Wavina Medical, hospital software that flags abnormal patient conditions in real time in dialysis rooms, aims for Ministry of Food and Drug Safety approval in early next year. The company is also developing Wavina One, GlucoWave and WavBet, and said it has secured original technology patents and filed a PCT international application.
