Microsoft Rolls Out New Windows 11 Search with Inline Actions to Insiders
The WinUI 3-based Search is available to select Windows Insiders and supports English only in this initial release.
Microsoft has begun rolling out a new Windows 11 Search experience to Windows Insiders in the Experimental and Experimental (26H1) channels, according to windowscentral.com. The refreshed Search is built on WinUI 3 and is available to select Insiders for testing.
The new Search supports inline actions, letting users complete tasks without leaving the search panel. These include turning on dark mode, enabling Bluetooth, adjusting brightness, muting the device, and arranging windows. Microsoft has also improved matching for typos and synonyms.
English is the only supported language in this initial release. Insiders must restart their device after upgrading for the new Search feature flag to appear.
The same set of builds includes a Battery Status widget for Insiders on newer builds. In the Experimental (26H1) channel, Narrator can now read and explore math equations.

Microsoft previously showed off its improved Search experience at its Windows 11 and Surface event in October 2025.
