World launches World ID for Finance at Money20/20
World ID for Finance combines the World ID app, World ID for Zoom and World ID for AI agents to help banks block deepfake fraud.
World announced World ID for Finance at Money20/20, an offering aimed at helping financial institutions prevent deepfake fraud and AI impersonation in customer accounts, staff work and AI agent tasks. The company also said World ID for Zoom is now generally available and that Tools for Humanity, which contributes to World's technology, has joined Zoom's independent software vendor (ISV) Exchange program.
World ID for Finance combines the World ID app, World ID for Zoom and World ID for AI agents. The World ID app is a wallet app for issuing, managing and presenting various credentials. World ID for Zoom checks in real time whether a conversation partner is a real person rather than a deepfake, while World ID for AI agents lets a user delegate credentials to an agent that presents them to third-party platforms for verification through a developer tool called AgentKit.
Banking partners and rollout plans
World said it is exploring use of its human-verification infrastructure in banking and financial services with design partners OpenExchange, Bain Capital, VanEck Funds, Pantera Capital and Outtake.
The company described the launch as the first industry-focused rollout of World ID. It said it chose banking and finance because of AI impersonation risks and potential losses from fraudulent transactions.
World also plans to take part in Zoomtopia and to present its technology to corporate contacts at Cloudflare Connect, according to datanet.co.kr.
In its earlier projection, Deloitte estimated that AI-based fraud losses in the US could grow from about $12.3 billion in 2023 to $40 billion by 2027.
