Xiaomi robot completes 8-hour EV factory shift
Xiaomi says its humanoid robot sorted center console side covers for 8 hours and autonomously corrected anomalies, but did not disclose throughput or success rate.
Xiaomi on November 3 posted a video on X showing its humanoid robot working an 8-hour shift on an EV factory production line, according to digitaltoday.co.kr. In the video, the robot takes center console side covers from a parts box, moves them to a storage rack and places them in designated spaces.
Xiaomi said the robot met the workstation's daily production demand and detected and corrected anomalies by itself during the work. The company also said the robot coordinated with the production line control system. The video displays a cumulative working time and the text “autonomous operation, 100x speed.”
Xiaomi did not disclose throughput, success rate or the number of human interventions for the 8-hour run. It also did not explain how power was supplied for the long run, such as through battery swaps or recharging.
The company has begun trial operation of its open-source AI model Xiaomi Robotics-1, which was pre-trained on more than 100,000 hours of real-world manipulation trajectories and further trained on over 7,200 hours of real robot data. In a trial in a Xiaomi employee apartment, the robot moved between three rooms for more than 30 minutes and performed over 50 tasks.
In the video, at about 1 minute 37 seconds, a robot combining a wheeled mobile base with a humanoid upper body assists two bipedal robots, and an autonomous mobile robot carrying parts boxes also appears.
Earlier factory work
In March 2026, Xiaomi put a humanoid robot into its Beijing EV factory to assemble self-tapping nuts, reporting a 90.2% success rate over 3 hours and meeting the 76-second line cycle. By July 2026, the success rate for that process rose to 98% and two more processes, side-cover sorting and parts-box folding, were added. In December 2025, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said the company plans to deploy humanoid robots across its factories at scale within five years.
