YouTuber Cuts Laptop Temps 60°C With External Water Cooling
TrashBench attached waterblocks, a pump and a 360mm radiator to a Metabox P950EP laptop, gaining 14% average performance after overclocking.
YouTuber TrashBench has modified a Metabox P950EP laptop with an external liquid cooling loop, attaching waterblocks, a standalone water pump and a 360mm radiator, according to tomshardware.com. The project cut the laptop's CPU and GPU temperatures by approximately 60°C, keeping them below 40°C even under full load.
With the added cooling headroom, overclocking the modified laptop produced an average performance gain of 14% across games and benchmarks. In Forza Horizon 5, performance rose from 75 FPS to 83 FPS after the overclock.
The Metabox P950EP is built on a Clevo chassis, a common base for high-performance laptops. TrashBench's approach moves the radiator and pump outside the chassis rather than relying on the laptop's internal fans and heatsinks.
The modification is a custom project rather than a product, and no commercial version has been announced.
