Zest launches AI restaurant concierge that books tables via text

The concierge can check availability and reserve through OpenTable, Resy and SevenRooms, and can join group chats to poll friends on where to eat.

Zest launched a personal AI restaurant concierge that users reach by texting (212) 470-6067, according to techcrunch.com. The service recommends restaurants and books tables on the user's behalf.

The concierge can check availability and make reservations through services including OpenTable, Resy and SevenRooms. Users can ask for suggestions by cuisine, craving, occasion, dietary restrictions or neighborhood, and request a menu.

Zest can also be added to a group chat, where it combines the tastes of everyone in the thread and holds votes on where to eat.

The company said it held back the launch until booking capabilities were in place. Zest began testing the concierge in September 2026.

Earlier app and backing

Zest launched its restaurant discovery app earlier in 2026. The company was founded in November 2024 with $1.8 million in pre-seed backing from Alexis Ohanian at 776 and Steve Jang at Kindred Ventures. Its app links to users' credit cards via Plaid to track food and drink spending and personalize recommendations.
