Kioxia unveils LD4-series SSDs with 122.88TB capacity in E1.L form factor

Kioxia's new LD4-series drives use BiCS8 3D QLC NAND and will be demonstrated at the OCP Global Summit in San Jose in mid-October.

Kioxia introduced its LD4-series SSDs in an E1.L form factor with capacities up to 122.88TB. The drives are designed for high-density storage in hyperscale data centers.

The LD4-series uses BiCS8 3D QLC NAND and operates at PCIe 4.0 x4 speeds of up to 16 GT/s per lane. According to Tom's Hardware, Kioxia is currently sampling 15.36TB and 30.72TB LD4 drives to select customers.

The drives will be demonstrated at the OCP Global Summit in San Jose in mid-October.

Kioxia previously offered capacities of up to 30.72TB. The company has validated an architecture capable of supporting 122.88TB drives. Kioxia did not reveal when 122.88TB configurations will become available or when the series will enter mass production.
