Dolores stop-motion short debuts on Bang Bang YouTube for Halloween
Cecilia Andalón Delgadillo's dialogue-free short, made largely at El Taller del Chucho in Guadalajara, streams after more than 80 festival selections.
Miyu Distribution released the Mexican stop-motion short Dolores on its Bang Bang YouTube channel on October 30, 2026, timing the online debut to Halloween. The film is the debut short of director Cecilia Andalón Delgadillo, according to cartoonbrew.com.
Dolores has no dialogue and follows a seven-year-old girl who flees a fire demon and falls into an ancient hidden grave, where two figures in corn husks want her to stay. Only an armadillo offers her a chance to escape.
Production took two and a half years and was largely carried out at El Taller del Chucho in Guadalajara. Art director Mario González developed the characters' appearance, while Andalón Delgadillo and Puebla-based artist Ángel Meléndez built the puppets. Cinematographer Gilberto Torres and animators Pablo Bedolla and Nabí Orozco also worked on the film, among several crew members who had worked on Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio.
Bedolla spent a week animating a single 360-degree camera move around the girl and the two skeletal figures.
The short had already screened widely before its online release: it accumulated more than 80 festival selections and a 2025 Ariel Award nomination. Andalón Delgadillo began developing Dolores during the pandemic.
