Trigger Kept Asking to Destroy Night City in Edgerunners 2, CDPR Says

On a CD Projekt Red REDstream, showrunner Bartosz Sztybor said Studio Trigger's requests to destroy Arasaka and Night City were reshaped to protect Cyberpunk lore.

Studio Trigger repeatedly asked whether it could destroy Arasaka and Night City while working on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, showrunner Bartosz Sztybor said on a CD Projekt Red REDstream. According to gamesradar.com, the requests came up within the first week of work on the new season.

Executive producer Saya Elder said the team tries to be "Yes, and" people rather than reject the studio's ideas outright. Sztybor named CD Projekt Red lore staffer Patrick Mills as the person who reworks lore-breaking pitches into alternatives that could work inside Cyberpunk 2077 canon.

The Edgerunners 2 synopsis follows a washed-up cyberpunk legend named Weak, forced to live without chrome, and a nomad named D who is seeking revenge.

No third season confirmed

Sztybor said a third season is not guaranteed, and that a "perfect story" would be needed before production could start. The first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners streamed on Netflix.
