Edia to Open Niigata Office in January 2027, Push Group IP Into Anime
The company told its Q2 FY2027 briefing it will pair anime adaptations with publishing, games, online lotteries and goods, and kept its full-year forecast unchanged.
Edia said at its second-quarter FY2027 earnings briefing that it will promote anime adaptations of intellectual property held within the group, combined with publishing, games, online lotteries and merchandise. The company also announced plans to open a Niigata office in January 2027, according to gamebiz.jp.
The new office will handle planning, development, design and editing for anime, games, comics and goods. Edia will also take part as a hub company in an animation production regional industry cluster plan promoted by Niigata Prefecture and Niigata City.
On the lottery side, Edia is targeting 211 online lottery title launches for FY2027. Of that figure, 64 were achieved in the first half and 60 are planned for the third quarter.
On timing, Edia said specific anime titles will generally be announced about six months to a year before broadcast begins. President Yoshinari Kashima said it takes roughly three to four years from forming a production committee to broadcast.
Edia left its full-year forecast unchanged at sales of 5.3 billion yen, operating profit of 550 million yen and net profit of 500 million yen. First-half consolidated sales came to 2.285 billion yen, down 1.4% year on year, with operating profit of 218 million yen, down 26.8%, though operating profit exceeded the initial plan of 152 million yen by 44.0%.
Group build-out
In 2018, Edia added Team Entertainment and a publishing subsidiary to its group, expanding into publishing and goods. In 2024, it added Zerodiv to strengthen consumer game development, and in 2025 the company began its anime business.
