Gao Shan Pictures Wins First Ecoprod-Cartoon Tribute at Cartoon Forum

The French studio also pitched its six-episode series Roots of My Hair to a standing-room-only crowd at the animation event, according to cartoonbrew.com.

Gao Shan Pictures has won the first Ecoprod-Cartoon Tribute, a new Cartoon Forum award recognising sustainability in European animation, according to cartoonbrew.com. The studio also presented its series Roots of My Hair at the event, where the pitch drew a standing-room-only audience and was one of the forum's highlights.

Roots of My Hair consists of six 13-minute episodes. The project is one of several in development at the company, which has credits on three of this year's buzziest animated features: Jim Queen, In Waves and Lucy Lost.

Gao Shan was founded by Arnaud Boulard twelve years before the article's publication and has grown into a studio group with facilities on Réunion, in Angoulême, in Mauritius and, since last year, in Annecy. The Annecy staff are supervised by producer Anne-Flore Aussant alongside creative director Paul Ó Muiris.

Producer Bérangère Condomines joined Gao Shan in 2021 to develop new in-house series and features, working from Réunion. Over the past decade the studio has contributed to films including I Lost My Body, Mars Express, Sirocco and the Kingdom of the Winds and Little Nicolas, as well as series such as The Smurfs and Team Nuggets.
