GKIDS will return The Last Blossom to theaters on October 13, 2026, after August 2025 screenings were hit by mistimed subtitles and cancellations.
GKIDS will hold rescreenings of The Last Blossom in theaters on October 13, 2026, the distributor announced. The new dates follow a troubled first run of screenings on August 30-31, 2025.
According to Anime News Network, GKIDS became aware on August 30, 2025, of a subtitling glitch in its DCP for the film. The company instructed theaters to pull shows from sale and issue refunds. A corrected version was delivered to theaters on August 31, 2025, but some locations could not update their screenings in time and those shows were canceled.
The Last Blossom opened in Japan in October 2025. It played in the Feature Film Competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2025, after a preview of the film appeared in the festival's Work in Progress lineup the previous year.
Production credits
Kinoshita directed The Last Blossom, with Konomoto credited for the script and original concept. CLAP handled animation production, and Michinoku-Toge drafted concept art. The band cero composed the film's music and performed the theme song "Moving Still Life." Kinoshita and Konomoto previously collaborated on the ODDTAXI anime in 2021.
