The Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM MSV project has launched as a relaunch of a side story and design project for Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, with its first installment published in the December 2026 issue of Hobby Japan. The issue is on sale for 1,980 yen, according to cbr.com.
The project combines story pages with designs set in the Cosmic Era timeline. Its first installment features two mobile suits: the Rising Freedom CDE-Spec and the Immortal Justice CDE-Spec.
The designs are presented through concept art and High Grade model kits modified by Hobby Japan. Mechanical designer Kunio Okawara is working on the designs, while screenwriter Shigeru Morita is developing the technical profiles and background information for the mobile suits and their pilots.
The December 2026 issue also includes a reprint of the old Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
Older roots
The original MSV was created to complement Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, which introduced one of the franchise's most popular timelines more than two decades ago. The Rising Freedom Gundam and Immortal Justice Gundam were prominent in the preceding anime.
