Obocchama-kun REBORN Anime Set for 2027 on TV Asahi

A new anime, Obocchama-kun REBORN, is planned to air in 2027 on TV Asahi's network, animeanime.jp reported. Yoshinori Kobayashi, the original manga author, serves as full supervisor of the new work's original story.
Chie Kamishiro continues in the role of Chama, the same part she played in the earlier anime. The production is a Japan-India co-production: Green Gold Animation is the production company, with Shinei Animation and Sony Pictures Networks India providing production cooperation. TV Asahi produces the series.
The original anime ran on TV Asahi's network from 1989 to 1992. In 2021, the old series aired in India and became popular among local children, prompting the start of a Japan-India co-production project. In the Indian version, the signature gag was changed and a gesture was added.
A world premiere screening of the new work was held at MIPCOM 2024 in Cannes, France.
