Yoshida joins Before Your Eyes study session at 404 Not Found

The 11th Game Director Research Group session examined the blink-controlled narrative game, with Fahrenheit 213's Yosuke Shiokawa leading and Shuhei Yoshida as guest.

The 11th study session of the Game Director Research Group was held at the event space 404 Not Found on November 1, 2026, with the blink-controlled narrative adventure Before Your Eyes as its subject. According to 4gamer.net, the session was led by Fahrenheit 213's Yosuke Shiokawa, with Daisuke Miyata of Game Creators Guild as assistant.

Shuhei Yoshida of Yosp joined the session as a guest. Yoshida named Before Your Eyes as one of only three games that have made him cry, alongside Journey and Darekare.

Shiokawa argued that Before Your Eyes turns the VR constraints of time, movement and gaze guidance into gameplay experiences. Attendees were split roughly 70 percent for mechanics-first and 30 percent for story-first when asked about the game's origin.

Before Your Eyes was released for PC and PS5 in 2021. Its prototype Close Your was started in 2014 by University of Southern California students and won awards at IndieCade and GDC's IGF.
