Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Hotfix Randomises DMZ UAV Towers

Infinity Ward cut UAV Tower spawn rates by 40 percent in DMZ and doubled the Sedative Inhaler's duration to 120 seconds.

Infinity Ward released a hotfix for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on November 3, 2026 that overhauls UAV Towers in the DMZ extraction mode. According to Eurogamer, UAV Tower spawns are now randomised rather than guaranteed at every Point of Interest, and the studio reduced the spawn rate by 40 percent.

The change is designed to stop multiple towers from spawning in the same area. Deadtown is the exception, since DMZ Order progression there requires several towers.

The same hotfix doubled the Sedative Inhaler's duration to 120 seconds from 60. Infinity Ward confirmed the item will also counter trait-upgraded UAV Towers, with that adjustment set to arrive in Season 1.

Why the towers mattered

Since DMZ launched, UAV Towers were guaranteed at every Point of Interest, and players routinely activated as many as they could to expose enemy movement.

Separately, players recently reported what appears to be a distinct matchmaking pool for Story Missions that keeps solo sessions free of other players.
