Cover Corp. settles with minor over fake VTuber personal data

The settlement requires the individual to delete the posts, send an apology letter and pay damages, with a guardian supervising compliance.

Cover Corp. announced on October 28, 2026 that it has reached a settlement with a person who infringed the rights of its VTubers, including talents from hololive production, according to gamebusiness.jp. The individual had posted false information presented as the talents' personal information, which the company said infringed their privacy rights.

The company said a court recognized the rights infringement, and that negotiations led to a settlement after the person was identified.

Under the terms, the individual must delete the posts, submit an apology letter, pledge not to defame or infringe the rights of any of the company's talents, and pay damages. Violating the settlement triggers a penalty payment.

Because the person was a minor, a parental guardian promised to pay the damages and to supervise the individual going forward.

Cover said that even though the person was a minor, the fact that its talents were hurt by the infringement remains unchanged, and that it will respond appropriately as it does in other cases.
