Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown Launches October 29, 2026

Pearl Abyss's Will Powers also said Damiane and Oongka become full protagonists in the ocean-focused expansion.

Pearl Abyss will release Charting the Unknown, the expansion for Crimson Desert, at 3 PM Pacific on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Pearl Abyss representative Will Powers gave the date and time on the Dropped Frames podcast, as reported by wccftech.com.

Powers said the expansion's main story can only be accessed after players finish the base game's main story. Once inside, they will find three separate stories built around Kliff, Damiane and Oongka, and those three strands do not connect to each other.

Damiane and Oongka are being treated as full protagonists alongside Kliff in the expansion rather than as supporting playable characters.

Ocean exploration and storms

Charting the Unknown centres on ocean and underwater exploration and adds a weather system that brings massive waves during storms. Ship boarding is also part of the expansion.

The DLC adds new open-world content, side stories playable by all three characters, interactions with every NPC, unique content and quests for all romanceable NPCs, and new gear. New skills may not be included, Powers said, because the team did not want to further complicate the controls.

Pearl Abyss previously released weekly post-launch updates for Crimson Desert, culminating in the Enhanced release that addressed the game's disjointed story. The studio had also said in the past that it wanted to make Damiane and Oongka better characters. The base game generated $427 million in revenue and over 6 million sales.
