Crimson Desert Co-Op Mod Footage Shows Multiplayer Testing
Modder No-Context2224 shared first footage of an early Crimson Desert co-op mod, with players seeing each other move, jump and glide via Steam.
A community modder using the handle No-Context2224 is developing a co-op multiplayer mod for Crimson Desert and has shared the first video footage of it in action, according to wccftech.com. The modder tested the mod for the first time with a friend over Steam, and the footage was posted on the game's subreddit.
The mod is in early development. It already allows players to see each other move, run, jump, glide and climb walls, and to pull up onto ledges. Attacks and skills with their animations and effects are functional, and equipment changes are visible on the other player.
The mod connects through Steam without requiring port forwarding. Quests, loot and inventory remain separate for each player, and each player still has their own world, so enemies are not in the same spot for both of them. Shared damage on enemies is experimental.
Some elements do not sync properly yet. Horses do not sync correctly, and world interactions such as pulling trees or grabbing chickens only show up for the person doing them.
Official Mode Still Absent
Crimson Desert began its development as an MMO, and earlier this year Pearl Abyss confirmed the studio was open to the possibility of a multiplayer mode. The community previously introduced co-op multiplayer before the developer did with CAPCOM's Dragon's Dogma 2. A world editor for Crimson Desert was released a few weeks ago, and a 'Charting the Unknown' DLC is coming with additional features.
