Daisenryaku SSB2 free update adds Tsushima Strait, Goryokaku maps on October 29
The October 29 free update brings one new scenario map and one new free map, after which the game's free map additions will pause.
SystemSoft Beta announced on October 27 that a free update for Daisenryaku SSB2 will be released on October 29, adding one new scenario map and one new free map, according to Automaton Media.
The new scenario map, Tsushima Strait Crisis, is a land and sea battle set on Tsushima and the surrounding Kyushu and Honshu areas, pitting Japan against China and North Korea. The bridge linking the northern Kami-shima and southern Shimo-shima of Tsushima has been blown up by operatives, making it difficult for ground forces deployed on Shimo-shima to advance to Kami-shima.
The new free map, Invaders from Goryokaku II, is set at Goryokaku in Hakodate, Hokkaido, and tasks players with a defensive battle against enemy forces closing in from three directions.
The update also includes bug fixes. With this release, map additions through free updates will come to a pause, the company said.
The Daisenryaku series has been running since 1985. Daisenryaku SSB2 launched in February, and scenario maps have been added in monthly updates since, with one new scenario map and one new free map delivered each month from July onward. An April update made scenario maps playable from either side.
A new scenario map is also scheduled for release in 2027. Season 2 begins on November 26, adding the new Techno Power rule, new weapons, difficulty settings and the Power Up Kit, Australia and India DLC.
