Valve ships Deadlock Halloween update with Midboss rework

The patch adds pumpkins and candy cauldrons until November 2, alongside balance changes for nearly every hero and item.

Valve released a new Deadlock update on October 31, 2026 that adds a Halloween event with pumpkins, cauldrons and candy, alongside balance changes for almost every hero and item and a set of map adjustments, according to PCGamesN.

The update rebuilds the Midboss pit, making it larger with more complex terrain for cover. Midboss is now tankier, hands over half its previous bounty and roars at 25% health. When it falls, three Rejuvenator crystals drop instead of one, and the notes state that Baba's stomp heavy melee only breaks the closest crystal in range.

The Halloween Cauldrons can be broken with a heavy melee and drop Candy, which restores stamina, heals and grants an eight-second Sugar Rush buff. The seasonal content runs until Monday, November 2.

Balance and item changes

The six heroes added with the City Never Sleeps update are no longer flagged as new: they now require 15 wins for ranked play and can be banned. Move slows on air drag rose from 0.35 to 0.5, Haunted Souls take 25% longer to secure by default — faster when a team is behind on Net Worth, up to a 50% buff — and Healbane can stack from multiple sources with diminishing returns. The damage penalty on Golden Goose Egg was reduced, and Radiant Regeneration now only triggers in combat.

Valve had released the City Never Sleeps overhaul in October 2025, one month before this patch.
