Warframe: Tau expansion launches free in December 2026

Digital Extremes confirmed the release window at Devstream 198 and detailed Brysko, the game's 67th playable Warframe, voiced by Matt Mercer.

Digital Extremes has confirmed that Warframe: Tau will be released for free in December 2026. The studio announced the release window during Devstream 198 on October 30, as reported by Polygon.

The expansion takes the game to a new star system outside the Origin System and adds a new single-player chapter. It also introduces Brysko, the 67th playable Warframe, who is inspired by noir detective characters and voiced by Matt Mercer. Brysko can be earned for free or bought in the Warframe Market.

Once the story chapter is complete, players can take on missions in two Tau locations, Perita and Fornax. A dedicated Tau System Star Chart serves as the hub for the new content.

Digital Extremes also said new cosmetics for Koumei and Nezha are in the works. Warframe: Tau launches on all platforms where Warframe is available.

First shown at TennoCon

The expansion was first glimpsed at TennoCon earlier in 2026. Warframe has taken place almost entirely in the Origin System for the past thirteen years.
