Dragon Quest VIII - Masterpiece Reborn v0.7.1 Adds 3DS Content, Red and Morrie

The unofficial PC port's new update adds a toggle for 3DS-style overworld encounters and PS2-style random encounters, plus new items and cutscenes.

Version 0.7.1 of the unofficial PC port Dragon Quest VIII - Masterpiece Reborn was released this week, bringing content from the Nintendo 3DS version of the game to the project, according to wccftech.com.

The update adds a toggle that lets players switch between 3DS-style overworld encounters and PS2-style random encounters. Red and Morrie become playable in the new version, with improved models.

Version 0.7.1 also introduces new items, equipment and cutscenes from the 3DS release. Voice lines that were previously exclusive to that version now play on any voice setting.

Several pre-rendered cutscenes were upscaled and resized for widescreen, and character facial animations were improved. The update also includes small framerate and UI fixes.
