Drecom rolls out Claude Code to all staff, targets 25% cost cut
The Japanese game company says AI accounts now cover every employee, including non-regular staff, as it automates development work.
Drecom said on October 30, 2026 that it is reorganising around company-wide use of AI, centred on the coding tool Claude Code, with AI accounts issued to all employees, including non-regular members who work with the company. The company disclosed the plan in an earnings briefing covered by gamebiz.jp.
Under the plan, Drecom aims to cut external costs and raw material purchases by 25% over the next one to two years, measured against FY2026 full-year results. Those items account for about 4 billion yen of fixed costs in FY2026.
In the second half of FY2026, the company will further automate development work to reduce external costs and shorten development times. Drecom also expects labour costs to rise by about 20% as it hires staff with AI skills and improves pay and conditions for existing employees.
Creative work still handled by people
In localisation, humans continue to perform final checks while AI is used to make translation and related work more efficient. Drecom said it is continuing research and development on applying AI directly to creative work and will introduce it step by step as social acceptance grows. Using AI agents to evaluate game quality and marketability remains at the stage of assessing effectiveness.
According to gamebiz.jp, the company made coding AI available to all employees in the first half of FY2026. Drecom was founded in November 2001 and is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market under code 3793; for FY2026 it reported sales of 17.547 billion yen and an operating profit of 408 million yen.
