Wizards of the Coast Announces Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft Sourcebook

The new tabletop sourcebook adapts World of Warcraft's dungeons and raids, with mythic creatures and boss battles inspired by the MMO.

Wizards of the Coast has announced Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft, a new D&D sourcebook that adapts the World of Warcraft MMORPG setting into tabletop rules, according to Polygon.

The book introduces mythic creatures whose health refreshes and which gain new abilities when reduced to zero hit points, building on rules first seen in Mythic Odysseys of Theros. It also includes guides for adventures ranging from The Deadmines dungeon to the Lich King encounter in Icecrown Citadel, plus a digital adventure.

Boss battles in the sourcebook feature mechanics inspired by WoW raid encounters, such as Lady Jaina Proudmoore's freezing ability and the Lich King's curse.

In 2020, Mythic Odysseys of Theros introduced mythic creatures that refresh their health and gain new abilities when reduced to zero hit points.

World of Warcraft was released in 2004 and features dungeons and raids for groups of five to 40 players.
