DXVK-Sarek 1.14.0 Released with Fixes for Older Vulkan GPUs

The fork of DXVK for GPUs that fall short of upstream requirements adds new debug options and a Civilization VI text fix.

DXVK-Sarek version 1.14.0 has been released, bringing fixes and new options for users running the Direct3D translation layer on older Vulkan-capable GPUs with Wine and Proton, according to gamingonlinux.com.

The release now lists missing Vulkan extensions in the log once device creation is complete, which should make it easier to see what a driver does not expose. A new DXVK_SAREK_STRICT=1 option turns every optional extension into a required one and is intended for debugging.

Vertex attribute divisor support is now enabled on older revisions of the extension, and the chunk allocator has been replaced with the upstream page and pool allocators. DXVK_HUD=memory now reports usage relative to the heap budget.

Elsewhere, util_monitor was replaced with a modified upstream wsi, and DXGI now reports occlusion on minimized windows and leaves fullscreen when a window becomes occluded. D7VK v2.2 was backported and per-stage color keying was enabled, while a new d3d9.splitSamplerSlots option addresses a D3D9 black screen on MoltenVK.

Garbled text in Civilization VI has been fixed, and a guard against a zero refresh rate denominator was added. DXVK-Sarek 1.14.0 is officially supported and included in Proton-CachyOS.

What DXVK-Sarek targets

DXVK-Sarek is a fork of DXVK that implements Direct3D 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 for Linux for use with Wine and Proton. The project targets users with Vulkan-capable GPUs that do not meet the requirements of current upstream builds, backporting patches, fixes and per-game configurations to the 1.10.x branch.
