Embark says adding PvE mode to Arc Raiders would not be difficult

Embark Studios is analyzing data from its Frozen Trial PvE test, where almost 50% of rounds were played on the PvE server.

Embark Studios has said that adding a PvE mode to Arc Raiders would not be a difficult thing to do, and that the studio is now working through data from its Frozen Trial PvE test to decide how to meet player demand, according to pcgamer.com.

Embark CEO Patrick Söderlund said the studio had previously feared that removing the PvP component would weaken the core emotional loop of the PvPvE game. The studio has now run a PvE test and concluded that it is fine, he said.

Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal said Embark is going through the test data right now. He said almost 50% of rounds played during the test were on the PvE server, and that some players who had asked for PvE changed their minds after trying it, while others loved it.

According to Grøndal, Embark still needs to work out how to cater to the specific needs of players without watering down the experience.

Earlier tests and a past decision

During the start of Frozen Trial, Arc Raiders ran a PvE test that Embark described as very successful. The studio had previously said it needed more time to figure out a permanent PvE mode, and had decided that removing the PvP component was not the right thing to do.
