Ultima Team announces SNES action RPG Eternal Hunters

The French studio unveiled Eternal Hunters: The Branford Legacy with a new English trailer, confirming solo and co-op play on original SNES hardware.

Ultima Team has officially announced Eternal Hunters: The Branford Legacy, an action RPG developed natively for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. A new English trailer confirmed the project, according to gamerant.com.

The trailer introduced co-protagonists Duncan and Clive and a plot built around time travel. The game supports both solo and co-op play on the original SNES.

Ultima Team describes the title as a Zelda-like adventure with real-time combat and no turn-based encounters, and says it plans to offer at least 20 hours of gameplay. Raphaël Gesqua composed the music.

The studio recently let fans play the first demo at Hedge'Conv, a French retro gaming convention. Ultima Team has also partnered with indie developer Story Bird Studios, which is working on a Dreamcast game called White Creek.

Funding will come through a Kickstarter campaign, and the studio is accepting newsletter sign-ups. Ultima Team said it will consider porting the game to Nintendo Switch 2, Steam and other modern platforms if it meets expectations.

Earlier showing drew little attention

In 2025, Eternal Hunters was semi-officially unveiled at Hedge'Conv in France without English voiceover or text and went largely unnoticed by Western outlets.
