Final Fantasy VII Revelation Limits 3-Person Synergy to Story Peaks

Director Naoki Hamaguchi also declined to say whether Aerith will be a playable battle member when the game launches on April 8.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation restricts its three-person Synergy Abilities to specific narrative peak moments instead of letting players use them anywhere, director Naoki Hamaguchi said. The game is scheduled to launch on April 8 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

Hamaguchi described the three-person Synergy Ability mechanic as part of the game's specifications, but said the moves are tied to cinematic story beats. He did not say how many of these moments the game contains.

Asked whether Aerith will be a playable battle member in the installment, Hamaguchi declined to answer, according to wccftech.com.

He did confirm several other elements for the game: Ultimate Weapons for the party, each party member's final Limit Break, and Cloud's final one-on-one clash with Sephiroth.

Earlier look at Midgar

Final Fantasy VII Revelation was previously shown with a first look at Midgar exploration. The final clash between Cloud and Sephiroth was almost recreated for Final Fantasy VII Remake and was expanded upon in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
