Sports Interactive details FM27 tactical systems at Seoul fan meeting

Associate game director Rémy Boicherot discussed FM27's return to a familiar UI and new Tactical Effectiveness and Complexity systems.

Sports Interactive developers discussed Football Manager 27’s UI direction, tactical systems and player transfer logic at a Korean fan meeting held on November 1, 2026, at GGX in Dongdaemun, Seoul, according to Inven. The session featured associate game director Rémy Boicherot and senior PR and product executive Andrew Sinclair.

The studio said FM27 restores a user interface closer to FM24, following the larger UI changes introduced in FM26. In FM26, Sports Interactive took a big risk with a new UI direction that some players disliked.

The new Tactical Effectiveness system considers how well a squad can absorb a given set of tactics, and it is paired with Tactical Complexity. Tactical Effectiveness evolves the earlier Tactical Familiarity system, the developers said.

Stadium crowd presentation was also expanded, with supporters wearing club kits and clothing suited to the weather. FM27 was built on the Unity engine.

Preview period and scouting context

FM27 ran a free five-day launch preview from October 30, 2026 ahead of its full release, offering all game modes free for five days before paid early access continued. During that period, players created mods using AI tools.

In September 2026, the developers secretly visited Korea to observe local players’ play sessions. The studio also noted that young players’ potential is currently set within a random range of about 30 points when a save begins.
