Mod Adds Red Faction-Style Destruction to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
A modder known as chris-efpunkt has released a GitHub mod that lets explosions carve craters, tunnel through them and topple trees in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
A mod that adds Red Faction-style environmental destruction to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been released on GitHub by modder chris-efpunkt, according to gamerant.com.
The mod lets explosions from grenades, rockets, satchel charges and exploding vehicles carve craters into the game world. Thin roofs, walls and bridge decks can be blown through, and the resulting craters can be joined together into tunnels.
Trees and lamp posts are also knocked over, and the damage affects collision. The destruction is limited to the outside world, so interiors stay intact.
Footage shows buildings leveled
Video of the mod was posted on X by user TheCanadianGTR, showing buildings being leveled by explosions.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was released on October 26, 2004, and was the best-selling game on the PS2. Another mod for the title added zombies to the game.
