Developer says Jackbox Party Pack 12 game resembles his pitch

Sam Greszes says Debate and Switch closely resembles his party game Die On This Hill, which he sent to Jackbox Games as part of a 2025 pitch.

Solo board game developer Sam Greszes said on October 27, 2026 that Debate and Switch, a game in Jackbox Party Pack 12, closely resembles his own party game Die On This Hill, which he had sent to Jackbox Games as part of a pitch, according to Kotaku.

Both games are social party titles in which players assemble and argue for or against silly debate topics. Both also include an audience voting component and let players swap words in the topic to change its meaning, Greszes said.

Greszes said he first saw Debate and Switch in a YouTube video announcing the game, more than a year after his communications with Jackbox Games faded out.

His pitch to the studio began in early 2025, when Jackbox Games expressed interest and asked for a demo of Die On This Hill. Greszes said he asked the company to sign an agreement stating he would be involved if it made a game based on his, and Jackbox declined.

Copies of Die On This Hill started going out to backers in March 2025, and one was sent to Jackbox Games, according to Greszes. He said he followed up three or four times from spring through winter and was repeatedly told no one had time to play the game.

Greszes got the idea for Die On This Hill after being laid off in 2024 and had a working prototype by summer 2024. He launched a Kickstarter in November 2024, and the project reached its funding goal a month later.
