Jin Sakai Returns as Playable Character in Ghost of Yōtei's Most Wanted Mode

Sucker Punch says more than 60 of Jin's attack animations were retargeted and rebalanced for Ghost of Yōtei's combat systems.

Sucker Punch Productions has published a behind-the-scenes look at how Jin Sakai, the protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima, was brought back as a playable character in Ghost of Yōtei. Jin is playable now in the game's Most Wanted mode, which ships with the Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition, according to the PlayStation Blog.

Most Wanted is a class-based, roguelike mode built around challenge and mastery of Ghost of Yōtei's combat. In it, Jin can use all of his Stances as well as his sticky bomb.

Adapting the character took mechanical work rather than a straight port. More than 60 of Jin's attack animations were retargeted, retouched and rebalanced for Ghost of Yōtei's combat systems, the studio said.

Jin's perks are built around parrying. The Rattling Parry perk causes him to deal more Stagger damage on successful parries, which makes Parry Interrupt occur more often, and other perks encourage Perfect Parry and Quickfire follow-ups.

Jin previously starred in Ghost of Tsushima, where the Parry Deflect and Parry Interrupt distinction did not exist, so his return required adjusting how his defense reads against the newer systems.
