Magic: The Gathering x Star Trek Reveals Borg Card Overflow Submatrix

The Rare Artifact Creature lets players cast an artifact creature from their graveyard once each turn, ahead of the set's November 13, 2026 release.

A new Borg card, Overflow Submatrix, has been revealed for the Magic: The Gathering x Star Trek crossover ahead of its November 13, 2026 release, according to screenrant.com. The card depicts an assimilated member of a feline alien species, which fans suggest may be a Caitian.

Overflow Submatrix is a Rare Artifact Creature — Borg costing three mana, with three power and three toughness. Its ability lets players cast an artifact creature spell from their graveyard once each turn, placing a finality counter on the returned creature.

The standard card carries artwork by Carlos Dattoli along with a warning from Guinan. An alternate showcase version illustrated by Viktor Fetsch will also be available.

The crossover launches on November 13, 2026, with prerelease events beginning November 6. The expansion includes four Commander decks, among them a Borg-focused deck called We Are the Borg.

A 60th anniversary crossover

Star Trek celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2026, and the expansion marks the milestone. Gene Roddenberry introduced the franchise to audiences in 1966. The Caitian species first appeared in Star Trek: The Animated Series and was recently represented by Dr. T'Ana in Star Trek: Lower Decks.
