Mass Effect petition passes 200,000 signatures calling on EA to license IP
The Change.org campaign asks EA to keep the series going or hand the IP to outside studios, after BioWare's closure this week.
A Change.org petition called #SaveMassEffect has gathered more than 200,000 signatures, asking EA to continue development of the Mass Effect series rather than to revive BioWare, according to digitaltoday.co.kr.
The petition asks EA to carry on with the franchise, and proposes licensing the Mass Effect IP to other studios if the publisher cannot continue development itself.
The campaign follows the circulation of an internal trailer titled Mass Effect Universe, which was posted on Reddit after the project's cancellation. IGN and journalist Jason Schreier confirmed the trailer is from the project BioWare had been developing.
EA has not announced plans to resume development or to license the IP to outside studios.
