Master Quest Files Found in Ocarina of Time Switch 2 Remake

Dataminers say references to Master Quest appear in the remake's files, and one claims the content would need DLC to unlock.

References to Master Quest have been found in the files of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's Nintendo Switch 2 remake, according to Nintendo Everything, which reported the datamine on November 7. Bluesky user MrCheeze discovered the references on November 6.

In a post on November 7, X user OatmealDome claimed the Master Quest files would require DLC to unlock rather than a simple update. Nintendo has not publicly announced any Master Quest DLC for the remake.

Master Quest was missing from the Switch 2 version when it launched. The remake has been out for a couple of days.

An extra mode with a history of re-releases

Master Quest first appeared as a bonus disc packed with some copies of The Wind Waker on GameCube, and was later unlockable after beating the 3DS remake of Ocarina of Time once.

Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma told IGN that the developers want to leave open the possibility of future content for released games.
