Walmart Pre-Orders of Ocarina of Time Remake Arrive as Hyrule Warriors

A Zelda fan received Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment instead of the Ocarina of Time remake on release day, and other buyers at the same store report the same mix-up.

A customer who pre-ordered The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time from Walmart received a copy of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment instead on release day, November 5, 2026, according to a post from a Facebook user in a Nintendo Switch 2 fan group reported by Game Rant.

The customer said the Ocarina of Time remake was ordered through Walmart after Nintendo announced it, and that the wrong game arrived when the order was fulfilled.

The mix-up was not isolated. According to the same account, multiple customers at the same store received Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment rather than the Ocarina of Time remake.

Walmart online customer support eventually told the customer to resolve the issue in-store with a manager, the post said.

A big launch day for Zelda

The Ocarina of Time remake arrived on November 5, 2026, and averaged review scores as high as 96 on OpenCritic and Metacritic. It launched alongside a Zelda 40th anniversary edition Nintendo Switch 2 with green Joy-Cons featuring a Triforce design, and Nintendo also released a Switch 2 Pro Controller with a similar design that sold out on its official website.

The remake is set to get amiibo figures of Young Link and Princess Zelda sometime in 2027. In an interview, Nintendo executive Nate Bihldorff said remakes and new games both have a place at Nintendo.
