Magic: The Gathering Star Trek Secret Lair Drops Launch November 9
GameSpot revealed the six-drop superdrop, priced at $40 foil and $30 non-foil, ahead of the full Star Trek expansion on November 13.
Wizards of the Coast will launch the Secret Lair X Star Trek Set Phasers To Superdrop on November 9 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET through the official Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair website, GameSpot reported. The superdrop is made up of six drops, five of which have now been detailed.
Each drop costs $40 in foil and $30 in non-foil while supplies last. The Beam Us Up drop contains four reversible cards built around blinking permanents, while the KHAAAAAAAAN drop offers six cards themed around the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and its villain Khan Noonien Singh.
Two further drops draw on Star Trek lore and language: the Lower Decks drop presents characters from Star Trek: Lower Decks in the show's cartoon style, and the tlhIngan maH drop holds five reversible Klingon-themed cards, with one side in English and the other in the Klingon language. The New Worlds drop rounds out the revealed lineup with two of each basic land featuring artwork by Alayna Danner.
Players who spend $200 or more on the superdrop receive a bonus card: Return of the Wildspeaker, presented as "Transporter Boondoggle". The sixth and final drop of the superdrop will be revealed later, according to GameSpot.
The superdrop arrives days before the full Star Trek expansion, which launches November 13 in local game stores and big-box retailers, with prerelease events starting November 6. Silas Renn, Seeker Adept and Thrasios, Triton Hero, both of which debuted in Magic in 2016, are among the cards making their Secret Lair debut in the set.
