Unverified Persona 1 remake clip circulates on leaks subreddit
The Japanese-language video appears to show a haunted hospital and a battle featuring Persona 2's Tatsuya Suou, but nothing confirms it is real.
A video purporting to show footage of a Persona 1 remake has begun circulating on a gaming leaks and rumors subreddit, according to Kotaku. There is no confirmation that the footage is real.
The clip is entirely in Japanese and appears to show teenagers escaping a haunted hospital. The main character, referred to as “boy with earring,” is attacked by a monster before the video cuts to a battle sequence.
That battle appears to feature Tatsuya Suou from Persona 2 alongside a character who resembles Eriko Kirishima. The combat UI lists options for “persona,” “gun,” “sword,” “item” and “defend,” and includes a turn order display.
As of publication, neither the Reddit thread nor the page hosting the video had received takedown notices. Atlus has not commented on the footage.
Earlier comments from the producer
In an interview earlier this year, Persona producer Kazuhisa Wada said remaking the first entries in the series was something Atlus “should definitely do,” noting that current development technology allows for more immersive and realistic cutscenes.
