Pocketpair's Buckley: No Fortnite-Style Metaverse for Palworld
Pocketpair's head of publishing says some ideas work better as standalone games, pointing to the upcoming Palfarm.
John 'Bucky' Buckley, head of publishing and communications at Pocketpair, said the studio does not intend to push Palworld toward a Fortnite-style metaverse model, and that some ideas are better served as standalone games rather than modes inside Palworld. He cited Palfarm, an upcoming standalone Pocketpair title, as an example.
Buckley also said maximizing revenue as quickly as possible is not what drives Pocketpair's creative decisions, and that the studio remains 100% self-owned and 100% self-funded.
He previously told MP1st that he understands why some people expect Palworld to move toward a Fortnite-style metaverse model, gamesradar.com reported.
Spin-offs over modes
Pocketpair's slate for the Palworld universe includes a dating sim, a farming sim and an MMO, according to the studio's earlier statements on its plans.
