Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen Get Pokemon Home Support on Switch
The update lets players move Pokemon out of the games into Pokemon Home, but not the other way around.
Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 now support Pokemon Home, according to gamerant.com. The compatibility update has gone live for both versions of the port.
The update works in one direction only: Pokemon can be moved from Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen into Pokemon Home, but they cannot be transferred into the games.
A free Celebi is tied to the update, though it is only available inside the Pokemon Home mobile app. Players qualify by completing the Kanto Pokedex minus Mew.
The two games arrived earlier this year as Switch and Switch 2 ports with updated graphics, retaining the original trading and Pokedex functionality. The ports also fixed old issues such as the Roar bug affecting roaming Legendaries in the post-game.
Trading in the ports remains local-only over a wireless connection, and does not extend to the original Game Boy Advance versions. Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire have not been released on Nintendo Switch.
