Game Freak opens Spewpa Mystery Gift in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Evolving a distributed Spewpa counts toward a 660,000-point community goal that would unlock a Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon for all players.

Game Freak has begun distributing a Spewpa through the Mystery Gift feature in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Evolving that Spewpa — or any Spewpa found in the game's Wild Areas — into Vivillon earns players Vivillon Points, according to kotaku.com.

If the total playerbase reaches 660,000 Vivillon Points, every player will receive a Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon. Progress toward the goal is tracked on an official website.

The Mystery Gift Spewpa has an equal chance to evolve into any of 16 Vivillon variants. The Poké Ball pattern and the three patterns typically found in Pokémon Legends: Z-A are excluded from that pool.

A rare pattern returns

The Poké Ball Pattern Vivillon debuted as a limited-time distribution in Pokémon X and Y in 2014, starting at a temporary Pokémon Center pop-up shop in Paris. Game Freak re-released it throughout 2014 in Japan, Germany and via the Nintendo Network, and later gave it to Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire players in Japan at the Hiroshima Pokémon Center in 2016.

The variant had not been made available since then. Vivillon has been in Pokémon Legends: Z-A since the game launched, more than a year before this distribution.
