Fan-made Pokemon Monomyth brings back Battle Frontier
The six-year fan project also claims a new Athanto region, more than 360 Pokemon and over 75 hours of gameplay, per Game Rant.
A fan-made Pokemon game titled Pokemon Monomyth is in development and will include the Battle Frontier, according to Game Rant. The project has been in development for six years and is said to release in the near future, though no exact date has been given.
The game is claimed to offer more than 75 hours of gameplay set in a new region called Athanto, with a roster described as over 360 brand new and returning Pokemon. It also includes Contest Halls, Trainer Hill, multiplayer and side quests.
The Battle Frontier first appeared in Pokemon Emerald and was one of that game's defining features, according to Game Rant. It was absent from Diamond and Pearl but returned as a selling point of Pokemon Platinum, and later appeared in Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
No plans for the Battle Frontier's return in an official Pokemon game have been announced. The Pokemon Company, Nintendo and Game Freak have not commented on the fan project.
Officially, Pokemon Winds and Waves were revealed for the Switch 2 and are set to launch in 2027, with their starter trio shown at last year's Pokemon Day. The next showing of those games is expected at Pokemon Day on February 27, 2027. A Pokemon Emerald port for the Switch is rumored but unconfirmed.
