PS5 Linux project adds PS5 Pro and newer firmware support
The project now covers PS5 Phat and Slim firmware from 3.00 through 13.60, with the PS5 Pro supported on firmware 13.60.
The PlayStation 5 Linux project has been updated to add support for the PS5 Pro and a wider range of PS5 firmware versions, according to gamingonlinux.com. The project now covers PS5 Phat and Slim consoles running firmware from 3.00 through 13.60, with M.2 support on most of the listed versions.
Support is not uniform across every release. Firmware 11.60 works on the regular PS5 only, M.2 has not yet been tested on that version, and KASLR is required. The PS5 Pro is supported on firmware 13.60, where M.2 support is included.
The project lists Claude among its contributors. No further details on the contribution were given.
The update follows the departure of one of the main people behind the project, which happened at some point before these changes. Sony has not commented on the project.
