Fan Developer Rebuilds P.T. as Native PC Port

A developer called LoreanXavier is reverse-engineering P.T.'s PS4 executable and rebuilding its logic in C++ and Vulkan. No release date is set.

A fan developer named LoreanXavier is rebuilding P.T. as a native PC port, according to Game Rant. The project is not an emulator, a wrapper, or a remake built in another engine, the developer says.

Instead, LoreanXavier is reverse-engineering the PS4 executable and rebuilding P.T.'s logic and rendering in C++ and Vulkan. The port runs on data files taken from an original copy of P.T.

Most of the experience is already functional, including Lua scripts, cutscenes, Lisa's animations, sound behavior, controller vibration, and the voice-recognition sequence, according to the developer. A 30-minute gameplay video is available on YouTube.

The build supports 60-plus FPS, higher resolutions, mouse and keyboard input, modern controllers, and optional AMD FSR 3.1. No release date has been announced.

How P.T. Became a Cult Curiosity

P.T. was released unexpectedly on PS4 in August 2014 behind the fictional 7780s Studio name. Players who solved its puzzles discovered it was a playable teaser for Silent Hills, involving Hideo Kojima, Guillermo del Toro, and Norman Reedus. Konami canceled Silent Hills in 2015 as Kojima's relationship with the publisher fell apart, then removed P.T. from the PlayStation Store and made it impossible to redownload even for players who had claimed it. Konami later revived Silent Hill with Silent Hill: Townfall, while Kojima built Death Stranding and is developing OD and Physint.
