RocketWerkz Releases BRUTAL Framework as Open Source

Dean Hall's studio has published its in-house game development framework and full source code on GitHub under the MIT license, free for commercial use.

RocketWerkz, the studio led by DayZ creator Dean Hall, has publicly released BRUTAL, its game development framework, together with its source code. The release was reported by gamespark.jp.

The framework is used directly in RocketWerkz's own new title, Kitten Space Agency. The source code and the terms of use are published on GitHub.

BRUTAL is offered as open source under the MIT license and is fully free to use, including for commercial works. Users are required to credit the content they create, display BRUTAL's copyright and logo on the startup screen, and include a NOTICE file.

The framework also served as the foundation for Waylith, the custom game engine built for Ludeon Studios' sci-fi colony sim RimWorld, according to the company.
