Rockstar confirms Project Americas was retooled into Grand Theft Auto 6
Rockstar developers told Bloomberg that the scoped Project Americas, which would have spanned North and South America, was narrowed to the greater Vice City area.
Rockstar Games developers publicly acknowledged the long-standing Project Americas rumors in an interview with Bloomberg, confirming that the scoped project existed and was later retooled into Grand Theft Auto 6.
Development lead Rob Nelson discussed Project Americas in the interview, describing a game that would have spanned North and South America. After the retooling, the reduced scope of Grand Theft Auto 6 left only the greater Vice City area, and the scope change reportedly pushed the game back a few years.
Artist Aaron Garbut also spoke in the same interview about the emotional impact of the massive leaks that affected the studio.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to arrive in November.
